Hi,

looks like the ACAD.EXE is erased or moved away ... or this shortcut/icon was copied from a workstation where AutoCAD 2016 was installed, but it is not installed on your workstation.

With a default installation start Windows Explorer, change to folder

C:\Program Files\Autodesk

and search for a folder "AutoCAD 2016", if that exits, go into the folder and search for a file "ACAD.EXE", if that exists, double click it and see if it works.

If the folder does not exist, start Windows control panel ==> Programs and Features ==> and see if AutoCAD 2016 is on the list of installed applications. If not it's probably uninstalled.

That appeared to be the issue; however, I've deleted the shortcut icons and
restarted my laptop several times.

It continues to appear that the application will not load on my laptop
because last year I installed this application onto an external hard drive
(that's now lost).

Is there a registry location that may be referenced that I need to delete as
well?

Hi,

>> I installed this application onto an external hard drive

Not a good decision, AutoCAD is not a so called portable application

So I guess you need now to uninstall (if the uninstall works) and if the uninstaller does not work you need to do a lot of cleaning work, because some folder on C: as well as registry content exists and has to be cleaned before you can start a new installation.

Let me know if you have some questions to that ... and good luck!

- alfred -

PS: please don't install AutoCAD again on an external drive, that does not work well

I have learned a valuable lesson; that I should have realized over a year
ago.

I vaguely remember there was a post that identified how to do a "clean"
uninstall (including registry entries) and then reinstall, but cannot seem
to locate it.

Can you point me in the direction that I must take now so I may install onto
my laptop..

Thanks again..
