Kopasinski, I've occasionally/rarely seen the background issue come up with models that I've created in the past. What I've done is start from a plan view, set the visual style to 2D Wireframe and then go into Options Colors to set the background color to a different value. Then, try different applying visual styles.

Let us know what happens. If you want us to pound on it, upload the file as Alfred suggested. You can delete the majority of objects to reduce the file size and protect your work.

I have changed the background color of every context to Color 251, as you can see in the attached screen shot. In the screen shot I have just opened the program, opened a drawing, and opened the Options dialogue box to show what the settings are, I have not made any adjustments. In several 3D models I have, the background will not change from black. Any ideas on how I might fix this?

AutoCAD 2018.1 Product Version: O.107.0.0

Windows 10 Pro

NVIDIA Quadro M4000 with Driver version 385.69

Thanks for your help,

Kevin

Kevin,

To expand on what Vinay suggested, note that the background color can be different in 2D Model Space, in a 3D parallel projection, and in a 3D perspective projection. If you want each of these to be black, you have to set the colors three times, once for each projection as Vinay indicated. For 3D perspective, there are several colors to set, including the top of the sky, the horizon, and so on.

Hope this helps,

Thank you for the responses. As I said in the original post, I have changed the background color in every context; 2D Model Space, 3D parallel projection, etc. The issue is that this change is not taking effect, and after further investigation, it is only on certain files. I currently have 2 files open that are both in 3D parallel projection, and they have different background colors even though the settings are the same. I tried disabling Graphics Hardware Acceleration, but this had no effect.

Ok, I figured it out.

First, I used WBLOCK to create a new file from your objects. The new file let me change the background color with impunity. No problem there.

Next, I orbited your model and noticed a Giant White Hexagon in the background that didn't respond to zooming. Aha!

Finally, I used the BACKGROUND command to set the background to none. Problem solved. 🙂
