I have created a 3d piping model. When i opened the file the other day after almost completing the model all of my pipes and autocad solids have disappeared. Before i open the file i get an error message saying drawing requires recovery. I recover the file and it says 256 objects have been deleted. I assume this means my pipes and solids. This issue has now happened twice on two jobs. I have had to start the models again from scratch. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Hi,

>> I have had to start the models again from scratch

Was it done in less of one day? If not don't you have backups so you can start at least with the project at the state one day before...

>> Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I have read such behaviors, best would be to search for service-packs and make sure your product is up-to-date.

Which version of AutoCAD are you running (and which service-pack ... command _ABOUT gives you that info)

Hi,

>> Hopefully updated service pack will resolve the issue

Please start command _ABOUT and show us the screenshot so we can see if your AutoCAD is up-to-date.

Just one additional idea (at least how I'm working) ... I do save very often using _SAVEAS and give the file a new revision number, so the name is like SITEPLAN_AN001.dwg

With AN ... I know that's a drawing I created.

And 001 is a numer that is raised with every _SAVEAS (I have a little tool for counting)

The advantage is that I have the option to step back to an earlier version even if undo does not work or if I don't want to run undo because I'm only needing one of the parts of an older dwg.

At the end of the day I can delete 90% of the files (so I have rev 10,20,30,...), at the and of the project another 90% (now having 100,200,300, ...) and even then I do have access to older versions of my drawing.

Maybe you can use that idea for your workflow too, at least you don't need to recreate all from scratch.
