I want to rotate a line while copy. If I use the rotate command, it will just rotate the original line. I want to keep both of them. How to do that? Thanks

Start the rotate command and select the item to rotate then pick the base point. After picking the base point there is an option on the command line to copy.

If you use the rotate command then pick it's sub command copy, it only lets you make one copy. If you use Alfred's method and use the grip and space bar to get into the rotate command and then pick the copy sub command in there, it let's you make multiple copies and multiple angles.

Hello,

Use the command MOCORO which allows you to Move, Copy, Rotate & Scale within a single command.

MOCORO is a cool command, but it doesn't let you do more than one of those commands at the same time as the OP was asking to do. My biggest use of MOCORO is when I want to copy something multiple times but change the base point in between the copies. Like placing an object against multiple walls of a room without having to restart the copy command each time.

Hi gotphish001,

You're right. In case you want the copy of the line rotated with the same base point its better to use the (copy sub-option inside the ROTATE command).

But you can exit from the command after copying the object and go to the rotate command in the case of multiple copies or rotates where we don't need to use a separate command.

You can indeed then rotate the copy without leaving the command fully. I never thought of that, so you are right as well. 😃 It's good to have options.

It's funny until you suggested it I never realized you could esc back to the main command prompt of MOCORO. I use the MOCORO mostly to move something first and then copy that. The move part of MOCORO just ends and goes back to the main prompt by itself so it never dawned on me to try and get back to the main prompt another way. It's great when you learn something new that is so simple, but seems so amazing because you just never new it could do that. Good stuff! It's like when I discovered that P will reselect the previous selection in the next command. That one blew my mind when I found out that was an option.

You could also use the array command. For example, to make one copy at an angle of 25°.

Command: ARRAY
Select objects: 1 found
Select objects:
Enter array type [Rectangular/PAth/POlar] <Polar>: po
Type = Polar Associative = No
Specify center point of array or [Base point/Axis of rotation]:
Select grip to edit array or [ASsociative/Base point/Items/Angle between/Fill angle/ROWs/Levels/ROTate items/eXit]<eXit>: i
Enter number of items in array or [Expression] <6>: 2
Select grip to edit array or [ASsociative/Base point/Items/Angle between/Fill angle/ROWs/Levels/ROTate items/eXit]<eXit>: f
Specify the angle to fill (+=ccw, -=cw) or [EXpression] <360>: 25
