DWG TO PDF

I am trying to add Autodesk ePlot (PDF) when I finish the add plotter wizard it says it cant find the file.

I assume it is looking for an HIF, HDI file but I cant find a file like that either.

Hi,

please when you want to add DWG To PDF.pc3 make sure that you don't already have one . then start to make the procedure from File >> Plotter Manager .

Please tell me which version of AutoCAD you are using. There are four built-in PC3 files in current product to produce PDF files from AutoCAD:

DWG to PDF.pc3
AutoCAD PDF (General Documentation).pc3
AutoCAD PDF (High Quality Print).pc3
AutoCAD PDF (Smallest File).pc3
AutoCAD PDF (Web and Mobile).pc3

Are none of these performing for you in your workflow? The eplot was used in older product. Please give me some more details on what you are trying to do so I can give you better resources and assistance.

I want to print to PDF and the only PDF printer that shows up is a Microsoft one that will not print large size documents

Hi @Anonymous,

This is not normal as there should be many printer drivers available within your page setup window or from within the plot window.

If you are not seeing any of these then please open OPTIONS and check the file paths. Please see if your Printer Support File Paths look similar to mine.

If they do not or do not exist, you can add them manually or you can perform a Reset Settings to Default to restore the out-of-the-box setup for your AtuoCAD.

What folder pops up when you use the "PlotterManager" command?

Make sure you have valid folders specified in Options, Files tab, Printer Support File path, Printer Configuration Search path, and Printer Description File Search path.

These options settings determine where AutoCAD looks for PC3 (AutoCAD-specific printer configuration) files and associated PMP (Plotter Model Parameters) files.

If all you see is one Microsoft printer, then I would guess the search path is pointing to a custom folder which does not contain any out-of-the-box PC3 files. It might also be that the Device Driver File Search path is not pointing to a "normal" folder.

P:\ are not valid files but I don't know which ones are valid or how to change them
I already did the factory settings reset.

HI @Anonymous,

Did you open options and try to set the paths manually to match the examples I gave? You would replace 'vellekj' with your logon name. These are the default paths.

I am concerned that the Reset did not restore these paths. How are you starting AutoCAD? Are you doing it with a shortcut on the desktop? Try starting it from the Windows Start Button instead. Perhaps a specific profile is being pulled up that does not have the paths.

If you look closely at @john.vellek's reply, you'll see the "normal", out-of-the-box folders for those files. Normally the folders are located under your Windows user profile.

Are you working in an environment where several users are sharing networked AutoCAD support files? Do you have someone who acts as the administrator?

I am not using a short cut.
I am going to install AutoCAD 2018.

Hi @Anonymous,

We just completed a remote session and I would like to summarize the solution.

In Windows Explorer settings for View, we turned on the visibility of hidden folders.
We opened AutoCAD and went to Options.
In the File tab, we scrolled down to the Printer Support section.
Leaving your existing network locations intact, we manually added the default paths that are located in the User profile roaming folder.
We then used Import Settings from your AutoCAD folder to bring back in the settings that you had saved when performing the Reset.
We then re-opened AutoCAD to verify the paths were left intact as we modified them.
We also saved a new profile to restore this configuration in case of an error.
