Frequently when importing layouts via the layout import function, the viewports show up turned off and must be turned on; select the viewports and in PROPERTIES make sure they are on.

Be sure MAXACTVP is at max (64) If your drawing file contains more than 64 viewports some will turn off as others turn on, they will still plot, but they will not display.

So for the first time, me and another guy are working on a model together. He took a chunk of the job as a separate file, I took a chunk of the job as a separate file. I've got my bits modeled and created construction drawings in paper space using VIEWBASE. Once he does his bits, we want to combine all of our little parts into one file. How is this possible without losing all my layout views? I can import the layouts into a new file using the design center, and just copy paste my model into model space, but all the views disappear, obviously. Do I just need to model my bits then create construction drawings in the new combined file? Or is there a way to keep my views and projections?

Have I made sense?

Any reason the two files cannot remain separate? All Eggs In One Basket is not always a good idea. You can use SSM or even just PUBLISH for printing if that is all you want the files together for.

Sounds like the answer is no. Can't copy to a new file without losing base views... sad.
