Zoom in causes ole object to appear white

Hi there,

I'm having issues when zooming in on a OLE object.

At a certain level it appears to be white/blank.

The orignal file is a TIFF of 14392x22944 pixels @400x400DPI.

Attached the file i'm currently editing.

On forums etc. i found it could be a hardware problem, but why?

Drivers etc. are up to date.

Hi @imadHabash,

I am familiar with that command/setting.

But this doesn't solve the problem.

I'm not talking about disappearing OLE object while panning.

I'm talking about disappearing after reaching a certain zoom level (zooming in).

What version AutoCAD are you running? Is it fully patched updated?
What is your Windows version?
What is your video card and driver version?
What settings do you have turned on in 3DCONFIG command?

AutoCAD 2017 SP 1 N104.0.0
Windows 7 Enterprise SP1

Nvidia Quadro K3100 M

display driver: 9.18.13.1233

Direct X 11

3D config everything ON, but I already tried turning (all) things off, but thats not the solution.

By the way:

I reopened the drawing and now the OLE object is always white/blank nomather the zooming level.

Hi Jeroen,

I believe you are reaching the limitations in size for raster handling in AutoCAD. I would try attaching the file as opposed to using OLE to see if the behavior improves.

Have you also tried toggling off/on Hardware acceleration in GRAPHICSCONFIG when the OLE object does not display?

Okay

But somewhere i read that autocad can handle raster object up to 320.000 x 320.000 (320 thousand) pixels.

What other limitations are there?

I mean zooming in goes fluidly and all of a sudden the object disappears without noticing software or hardware limitations (memory usage and so on).

Closing and opening the file complete blanks the OLE object.

Has it something in common with the problem i discussed with you before? (PDF export).

Working with TIFF really has some issues i have to say.

Hi Jeroen,

I am continuing to research this on my side but in the mean time you might explore the OLEQUALITY variable to see how it affects your TIFF image display. Since they are B/W, I suggest setting the value to 0 when pasting in the OLE.

I tried to change the OLEQAULITY variable, but the zooming/blank issue remains.

How is the copy paste handled? I mean its a black and white TIFF of 1094 kB and when pasting it in a DWG, the DWG becomes 30MB.

I downloaded your file, your image is white all the time too. The connection to the source file is lost.

Start attaching instead of embedding images in AutoCAD, move away from OLEs, Autocad un-compresses images and bulks up file size.

its manditory to embed. its part of the regulations we were told by our customer.

It's white here, so that tells me a link to the source file is broken: seems to be happening to you too, most likely same issue.

Try this, Covert the image file to JPG format (size below 1MB). Then open in Paint and copy.

Now you have paste with pastespec command with picture.
