I have been hatching polylines using the select object option, but the hatching is adding in extra nodes and does not follow the shape! What is happening? I am working in AutoCAD 2016, the shapes are simple and 2D polylines. In addition, I cannot seem to get rid of the extra hatch edge ghost after I've deleted the hatching, to go back to the simple polyline. Can anyone help with these problems? Pictures supplied!

Try using REGEN when you are zoomed in and see if it makes a difference. If it does you can see about increasing your VIEWRES so it doesn't look out when you zoom in.

Unfortunately regen makes no difference. The line looks fine till you select it and stays exactly the same after regen

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Is it possible to attach your drawing file so I can try to duplicate this behavior? I see this sometimes when the objects being hatched use splines. The way I usually can get it to work is to make sure that the object is flat using flatten. If possible I also convert the spline to arcs and lines and then join them in a polyline. You can also try to recreate the boundary using BO (boundary and then hatch the new boundary.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

Hi,

>> I've tried all of your solutions but none of them seem to make any difference

For me it does.

The visual style you have set "Wireframe" shows the issue"

When using visual style "2D Wireframe" it does not show that issue.

...as shown here:

You might also try to disable hardware acceleration, but at least it's just a display issue, plotting should look correct!

Hi,

<STRIKE>btw: copy and paste the geometry into a new drawing also solved that issue on my system.</STRIKE>

[EDIT] sorry, did it not, save/close/reopen showed the same effect [/EDIT]

- alfred -

PS: it might be easier, if you don't create one hatch for all polygons, makes it more easy to edit the hatch(es)

another two issues :

when i separate your hatch ( Hatch Edit ) i notice that you have duplicate hatched for the same area. try to clean it and see if any chages.

your drawing is too far from 0,0,0 ... please keep near 0,0,0 to avoid any troubles .

please ... see attached file and see if any changes.

Thanks all for your help, I have really appreciated it - the wireframe setting sorted it! But Autodesk take note of this weirdness!

Thanks for the tip on the 0,0,0 but this is part of survey data from a very large site, so the skeleton is georeferenced - could be worse, could be six figure OS coordinates!
