Do you mean a discription box or a title block (title head)?

Title blocks are made in paperspace layout.

This is the place to "assemble" the drawing (with viewports etc...)

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

While you wait for the drawing, I suggest you create the titleblock. This is usually created in modelspace using lines, polylines, text, attributes, and fields. This is all drawn at 1:1. So, if you want a resulting letter size print, then draw the titleblock to fit a 8.5x11 piece of paper. When your titleblock is complete it can then be inserted or external referenced into paperspace of your drawing that contains your model.

The easiest way to create the actual geometry might be in 3D. Once the model is built then you could use VIEWBASE to project the various views. A lot of issues have been cleaned up in this command with later releases so you might consider testing this with a trial version of current product. Be aware however that once you have created viewbase geometry in a drawing you can not move it back to different versions of AutoCAD.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

Hi,

>> Attached is the drawing.

Sorry, that is a piece of paper with hand drawn lines/text on a photo ... far away from a drawing file.

>> Also i am able to put in measurements of the drawing but its so small you cant see the sizes

SCNR ... The only text I can see on your image could only be edited with a rubber 😉

What is the job to do?

Create real CAD objects based on that photo? ==> then you need to draw it with CAD tools

Paste this photo into a CAD drawing and then plot with title block?

==> use command _IMAGE to place the image

==> command _ALIGN to get it to the correct dimension (if the hand drawn paper has any valid scale)

==> insert the title block (create one or search in www if you can find one that matches your needs

Hi @Anonymous,

I apologize for my delayed response.

I made a video that shows you how to use your titleblock. I first opened the "template" dwg and drew the papersize so I could place the titleblock accurately within its borders. The paper outline I drew on defpoints layer as that one will not plot.

Then, in your drawing file, I first checked units and it appeared that you had selected an Imperial template (Feet-Inches) when you first started your drawing. I use -dwgunits to reset the units to millimeters.

Then in a layout tab, I inserted your titleblock at 0,0 with a scale of 1. I then verified that the named page setup I created had the correct papersize, orientation, plot scale, etc were all configured and then I applied that to the layout. I placed a viewport on the layout. I moved this viewport to the MVIEW layer which I created and set to non-plot.

I hope this gets you started.
