Fast then slow crosshairs AutoCAD 2017

I am having a strange issue with my crosshairs in the drawing window. Right after a dialog box is open or just after I zoom, my crosshairs move normally, then after a couple of seconds they start to move slowly. Turning off hardware acceleration seems to fix the issue, but the flickering then is unbearable.

Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?

Computer spec is as follows;

Core i7 2.6GHz

Installed RAM = 8GB

Operating system = windows10

Graphics card = NVIDEA GeForce GTX 965M

All variables set to 0 are as follows;

SELECTIONCYCLING = 0

UCSDETECT = 0

ORTHOMODE = 0

DYNMODE = 0

ROLLOVERTIPS = 0

SAVEFIDELITY = 0

QPMODE = 0

SNAPMODE = 0

SELECTIONPREVIEW = 0

PROPERTYPREVIEW = 0

That can be the reason of a driver not working well with AutoCAD, updating the driver might help.

But it might also depend on the drawing itself, please try the following steps:

in your drawing turn on and thaw all layers
in modelspace zoom extents
create a new drawing
use copy and paste to transfer your geomtry to the new drawing (please is a crossing selection, not the option _ALL)

does the new drawing now show the same effect?

Also necessary: make sure your AutoCAD is fully updated ... start command _ABOUT and show us the screenshot of that dialog so we can see the versions you have.

Drivers are up to date.

Same issue in a completely blank stock ACAD template.

the flickering isn't as bad in an empty drawing when hardware acceleration is off, and there is no crosshair lag.

...but the crosshairs still lag when hardware acceleration is turned on, even in am empty drawing.

Then try to downgrade the driver.

Or look in that list for a driver that is listed and close to your graphic card type >>>click<<<
