I tried this as well, again nothing happened at all.

I am open to both, mesh manipulation or solid manipulation. I just don't know how this is done in autocad. How would you create a smooth surface with the given model?

Is there a tool to automatically smooth my mesh? It contains sharp "edges".

I know how to convert solids into meshes and that I can manipulate my mehs vertice for vertice, but that is a huge pain in the ass. I would like to highlight an area (select all faces that I think should be in the selection) and then push some button and then I get a smoothed area.

Imagine it as grinding down edges and at the same time filling up creases so I end up with a smooth surface.

No matter how I searced I only found articles on converting objects into meshes and the different smooth-levels.

HI,

i don't know if ISOLINES system variable will help or not ( Valid settings range from 0 to 2047 ) . it's Specifies the number of contour lines displayed on the curved surfaces of 3D solids.

Regards,

Thank you for your answer, unfortunately isolines does not help (I tried several numbers, never saw a change and I'm still not sure what it does.).

Here is an example picture, 3 tubes meeting each other, how would I go about if I'd want a smooth surface (transition) there?

let's try this ... enable hardware acceleration and tick smooth line display from 3DCONFIG command and see if any changes.

yes, there is. the mesh solid is different then the solid. Mesh solid have the auto smooth but from solid is fillet and is it limited to some extent. it can change to mesh but the size will be smaller then the usual and difficult to control. solid is very difficult to make to flexible shape but mesh solid can. From mesh solid then convert to solid and then assemble other parts.

the example is below. tq.

The MESHSMOOTH command will help (if it is really a mesh object).

Yes there is, it is called FACETRES, it is 0.5 by default and goes o a max of 10, this will also make you drawing larger.

Good luck

S Banner
