I’m having trouble hatch when I click on something it comes up as solid but it says pattern in hatch edit

would you please attache here the hatch pattern ( your issue ) as CAD dwg file ? and tell us exactly what did you do and AutoCAD didn't let you !!!

EDIT :

would you try to AUDIT and Purge ( regapps ) your drawing.
make sure that you don't have duplicated hatch elements.

You don't know how to explain in more detail how AutoCAD won't let you?

Select your Hatch object,

Here is a picture of the property [CTRL]+[1]

See the Layer of that hatch and make sure your Hatch-Layer is not locked. (command: LAYER, padlock-symbol of that Layer should an open-padlock)

What pattern is it, what is the pattern name?
(but it would be easy if you attach a DWG to your object)

If the hatch look like a solid if you canceld all commands and selections [ESC], then

your Hatch-Scale is too low/small, set new higher scale-value in properties palette [CTRL+1]

Check the properties of hatch and change the scale and type of hatch. You will get the solution of your question
