I'm making an ornament for a class and I need to cut out some images. Basically I have a roughly 6"6"6" cad drawing and I need to print the parts to fit on an 11 by 8.5 piece of paper. I just need a little instruction on this process, I imagine it's simpler than I'm making it.Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

welcome @Anonymous!

These would be my steps:

create a layout for your paper format 11 x 8.5

on that layout create a viewport (if it does not already exist)

within the viewport zoom to the location where the model is

set the viewport to scale 1=1

plot the layout

If that does not help please let us know which step is unclear (at least you can find here words for the help and for Google 😉 ).

HTH, - alfred -

Can you clarify what you mean by a "6"6"6" cad drawing?

It sounds like a 3 dimensional drawing you are describing.

You can also post your drawing so we can all take a look.

HI @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

This sounds like an interesting project. I assume you have drawn your ornament shapes in modelspace. If this is correct, is this a 2D or 3D model?

Alfred suggests how you can print this geometry if you want it at 1:1 scale however you could also use the FIT option when you plot to get all your geometry to fill the letter size piece of paper.

It is possible to attach your work thus far and let me know what you desire for the final results?

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

IMO we're all guessing until OP uploads a sample drawing file.

Without having details I have many thing coming to mind when reading this question.

Does he draw in model space and use layout?

Does he draw everything in 1:1 scale?

How does he use template?

Is he familiar with setting up plot size, plot scale, plot style table?

... etc.

Different answers will take you to different destinations.

I have read many threads like this one and possibly you have had too.

To andrewdossat, I do not want to upset you.
It would help us to help you if you uploaded a sample file.

And it'd save your time and ours.

And hope this message helps others in the future when rising their questions.

Looks like your drawing already has a paperspace layout called A1.1 that's setup to print to 18 x 24 sheet of paper.

You should be able to make a copy of this layout and then change the pagesetup to Letter size.

Then adjust & move the paperspace viewport to the Letter size dimension.

It looks like each view will require the entire Letter size paper.

So you'll need three additional copies of this Letter size layout and then position the other three views accordingly.

See attached zip file of your drawing where I've already created one of these new Letter size layouts.
