offset function not accurate.

I'm trying to offset a line and its not measuring to what I'm inputting. EX: I offset a line 2.0" but when I go to check it, its measuring at 1.9442"

I made sure my that my "dynamic input where possible" is on and my "polar tracking" is also on. Not sure how to fix this problem.

I've attached the file and a drawing of what the dimensions are supposed to be.

Using the "quick" measure icon and hovering over the lines. I get the same when I choose "distance" under the measure button.

your titleblock is a series of 3D oriented lines/lines etc.

I have no issues when I make boxes using the "rectangle" draw tool. Everything measures out perfect. But I have to snip all unwanted lines when doing it that way.

It's wrong because you drawn with THICKNESS, set it to zero and draw again.

Start over @joserATT : you want UCS and PLAN commands to be set to WORLD, then use RECTANG command to draw each rectangle to the correct dimension, but ensure that your THICKNESS variable is set to 0 (that's a zero) first.

I agree with @pendean's request to tell us how you are measuring that. And maybe also how you are Offsetting, since if I Offset something in your drawing by 2, it measures accurately afterwards. If the issue is that the measuring is somehow taken from the base level of something with thickness to some other level on another thing with thickness that was Offset from the first one, then the result should be greater than the Offset distance used, not less.

But certainly those things should be at zero thickness. Whether changing that will have any effect on your issue may depend on the answers to the how-are-you-doing-it questions.

IT DID NOT...I TREID DRAWING A SINGLE LINE AND OFFSETTING IT 2.0" ABOVE AND ANOTHER 2.0" BELOW (NOW THERE ARE 3 LINES) AND THE ONE ABOVE MEASURED AT 1.9478" AND THE ONE BELOW MEASURED AT 2.0282". IF I USE AUTOCAD WEB, I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH OFFSETTING ANYTHING. 2.0" MEASURES OUT TO 2.0". IM NOT SURE WHY I CAN'T GET IT TO WORK ON FULL VERSION OF AUTOCAD.

IM NEW TO AUTOCAD FYI. SO, I HOPE I DONT FRUSTRATE ANYONE WITH MY SIMPLE QUESTIONS.

Did you ever fix your 3D issue? You never mention anything about it nor if you started a new titleblock drawn correctly with only 2D lines and rectangles with the settings recommended in previous replies to you.

Still no answers to those. For example, if to "offset" the Line you did not use the OFFSET command itself, but selected the Line and grabbed its midpoint grip and dragged that to make a copy, looking at the status line to see when it showed the distance as 2", that could easily result in that kind of difference, affected by whether you have Ortho mode and/or positional Snap turned on, and/or whether the initial Line was drawn with them turned on. So are you actually using OFFSET itself, not some other form of Copying? And to measure it, what command are you using, and what Object Snap(s) are you applying, if any?

For some reason the dimensions are not showing up on my recording. But this is how I'm offsetting the lines and measuring them. I didn't think there was a way to mess up offsetting and measuring. Seemed pretty straight forward. But I guess not... Hopefully this video answers the "how am I offsetting/measuring" question.

1) turn off all running OSNAPS. Discussed previously in a reply to you. Try it again.

2) are these new 2D only lines, or are you still working with the original file you shared here?

3) Why are you hiding the commandline if I may ask? You might be missing feedback from the program. Don't be shy about making it tall and in a corner (or a second screen)
