I can see the link target and this time it was the same as yours (previous times it had been for 2017). As these folders are for our standard plot styles and plotter configs I don't want any links pointing back to someones C:drive. I want to prevent this link from getting created. The link is invalid.

These two wizards keep returning to the Network folder where the standard plot style and plotters folder reside. The links are always invalid and I am unable to view the properties to find out which user may have created them. I would like to know what creates these links. Over the last few days a couple users are testing out AutoCAD 2018 and I would think it is related. Is there a way to prevent these wizards from getting created?

"... I am unable to view the properties ..."
Don't you just want to find what the shortcuts are pointing to and see if they are still valid instead? Mine for example points here
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2018\addplwiz.exe
And I can double-click on the exe file to get the app working as well.

Are you saying these are dead links, or do they crash after the initial screen pops-up?

How many versions of AutoCAD do you all have?
May I ask, if this is a shared folder on a server, have you considered locking all users out of it from editing/saving/deleting/renaming anything?

Currently it is just two people testing 2018 (vanilla) but there are a few seats of AutoCAD Electrical 2018. Otherwise everyone is on 2017. I had tried locking down the standards folder briefly. I ended up with too many requests coming in for Client specific templates/standards and updates that we wanted to be available for all users. It is not a critical issue that these links keep re-populating but it is annoying. I was hoping enough people had the same trouble that a workaround or setting adjustment would be available. I find it odd that the link is pathed back to the C: drive and that there isn't a dialog to allow or deny their creation.

The links get added whenever someone edits a PC3 or plot style table. And the only way to keep it out is to lock down permissions. If users want to constantly diddle about with templates, I'd recommend keeping a core folder inside the protected structure for your known-good ones and set up another folder they *do* have permissions to.
