Hi,

>> but it's started again today.

Sorry to hear that. But at least good to know it's not happening that often like before the update.

>> AutoCAD will freeze

I saw a lot of people when the application freezes that they start to move the mouse, click here and click there .... my recommendation: when it freezes on't touch the keyboard and mouse any more and still wait. ...does it come back then?

If it does not come back after 5min, then press one time <ESC> and wait another 5min (for now, just to see if AutoCAD can come back).

>> AutoCAD will freeze when using the view cube.

Which visual style was active when you used the viewcube?

>> By the way, is there any way to recover the files before AutoCAD froze

When AutoCAD freezes then by default no. AutoCAD can only create a SV$-file when it's working (not when the task runs in an endless loop and so blocks the rest).

Also make sure your drawing is clean, run command _AUDIT and let the command check the DWG-internal database.

HTH, - alfred -

It's like the short pause you get doing different operations, but it lasts forever. It doesn't seem to matter what I do after it freezes, it just stays that way. The program is still shown running according to the task manager, and taking up the about same amount of RAM as before the crash. It's as if the interface froze in time but the program is still running.

visual style- hidden

Hi,

>> and I can't put any commands in

Please start command _AUDIT after you open the drawing, before starting to work.

Can you please upload one of the drawings that freezes AutoCAD?

One additional hint: how about using <SHIFT><MiddleMouseButton> instead of viewcube?

After using audit, it said no errors detected.

This happened with many drawing files (simple to complicated ones). The one attached is the one I am working on now. It's a turret for a model tank I'm drawing. I'm thinking that it might be some file was deleted or corrupted. I cloned my computer's hard drive to a new one not so long ago. Would AutoCAD fix itself if this happened? Should I try reinstalling AutoCAD?

Thank you for your help

Hi,

I tried to run orbit and viewcube-actions multiple times, but within a few minutes I can't get my AutoCAD freezing or crashing.

One difference might be: I had no JPG that was referenced on your drawing, maybe that helps if you detach the JPG from the list of XREF's.

I don't know if you need all the block-definitions in the drawing, but running _PURGE with your drawing the filesize reduced from 31MB to 230kB!

Filesize can always be a source of an issue.

>> I cloned my computer's hard drive to a new one not so long ago.

And you build in the harddisk in the (physically) same workstation? Or a different one?

Because a different one can be critical for installed drivers.
