Hi and welcome to AutoCAd Forum,

from GRAPHICSCONFIG command .. try to disable hardware acceleration or / and uncheck smooth line display .

Had this same issue and the GRAPHICSCONFIG command, turn off smooth lines worked perfectly.

Simply disabling hardware acceleration did it for me.

Hate to bring this back up after a few years but all I've seen to "fix" this issue results in less than great graphics display. Is there a way to have smooth lines and not have the random lines everywhere? This issue has only cropped up since replacing a dead monitor. Has never been an issue in the 2.5 years working with it. Any thoughts?

I've always had a dual monitor setup with no problems. This began after replacing one of the monitors.

Have you tried not messing with the line smoothing setting, but only turning off hardware acceleration?

Thanks for the super quick reply. Yes, I have done that and while it did remove the random lines, it did nothing to smooth out circle and/or arcs. I'm thinking it may have more to do with how my monitors are connected than with AutoCAD.

If by that you mean those are "kinked" or "segmented," does the VIEWRES command fix it for you? Answer Yes to the question, and give it a very high "circle zoom percent" number [may as well go all the way to the maximum 20000].

I gave that a try and it didn't seem to do much. I've also started getting the "safe mode" issue and started to look into that. Driver up to date so I may be having a video card on its way out. Although I'm somewhat convinced it has something to do with the way my monitors are connected and perhaps bogging things down. Outlook is laggy when typing as well as Word. I don't think the HDMI port on my computer is working so I've ordered a HDMI to DVI converter and will try that in the morning. I'll report my success or failure tomorrow.

Well, that didn't seem to do much. Never had this issue until one of my monitors died and was replaced. I'm flummoxed but will keep tinkering around with it. Thanks for the help and if I find out the issue, I'll be sure to update. Cheers!
