xref PDF into a drawing.

Ok I have been having some issues but I think I got it figured out. Why I'm posting this is because I want to see if there is any other way to do it.

What I have been trying to figure out is why I can't get the PDF that I'm using as reference to XRef into my drawing. I know it more then likely has to do with my connection with me working from home. Yesterday I went into the office and didn't have a issue. It's a 203 page PDF and what I do is just XRef the page in that I need.

So this is what I have done is changed the PDF into a Word Doc. and copy and paste what I need into my section of AutoCAD that I'm working in.

Hi @john.p.addy,

The large PDF can pose some issues but you could "Extract" a single page to new PDF. Then you could attach it to your file or use PDFimport (if it is vector-based) to bring the geometry into your drawing. DO you have an samples that you can share?

Hi @john.p.addy,

Thanks for sending me your file.

I opened the PDF in Adobe Reader. I have the option of saving the document to Word but instead, I went to page 79. I then printed the current page to a new PDF using the Microsoft PDF driver as my Windows computer does not have the Adobe PDF driver installed.

Then, in a new drawing file in AutoCAD 2018, I use the PDFimport command and select the new PDF. The linework comes in as geometry that you can edit and copy/paste into your normal drawing file.

Please give this a try and let me know if it works for your process. I can make a video too if that helps - just let me know if you need this too.

Hi John, Here are the settings I used for my PDF import.

When you printed the one page to a new PDF file did you use the Microsoft PDF driver or a different one?

I think I figured it out but i'm going to get this drawing here done then I will try it on the next drawing. I didn't have the Vector geometry and solid fills checked.
