Greetings @MarkFitz,

I hope your holidays were happy ones Mark!

To change that print area is pretty simple. I made a quick video of how I suggest you proceed.

You will note that I create a page setup for my layout. It is set to a specific plot driver (PDF in this case). It also has a specific piece of paper selected and plot size.

I show that you can adjust the origin of the plot in the page setup but it doesn't do much if anything to alter the print area but just the start point of the plot on paper.

So to set the margins, I open the properties for my selected print driver and set the margins for the specific paper size as desired. I usually set my margins to 0" but you might want something else such as for binding in a book.

I hope this adds some clarity. If not, please let me know what I misunderstood or what i did not demonstrate clearly.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

Dashed Print Boundary Lines - Movable?

I'm sure this has been asked a dozen times over, and I've checked through few answers already, but no solid answers. I recognize this as the printable area boundary line. Is it possible to move this, or decrease it in size? I'm creating a new drawing border and have tried shifting it, but it seems the dashed line follows suit as my border does.

Help...?

Thanks,

The paper and printable borders follow your last pagesetup or or last plot.

So the important thing is your pagesetup and not the current display in paperspace.

And the printable border size is defined in your paper definition.

John,

Apologies, Sir, still getting used to this being an all encompassing system, mail messages, notifications and the works, not just a standard Q&A forum.

I'm looking back on this, and either I or someone else already checked the THIS ANSWER IS MY SOLUTION box.

Also, I'm pleading temporary insanity, as this was my last day as a contractor for that position (this being my first time employment as a contractor).

To answer your question, yes, the video did help, I wasn't previously aware that the boundary was expandable - I was thinking along the lines of it being a printable area, just like margins in a word document, I just didn't know how to access them. So, yes, kudos to you and the gang for knowing your stuff, and for helping those of us who know less of our stuff to get better!

Thanks John,

Is there a way to get the dashed lines to show up in the layout space? In my drawing, the dashed lines that display the boundary of the printable area are not showing and I'm trying to make them visible.

Thanks for responding; I actually just figured out what my issue was. The Page Set Up Manager was set to print Full Bleed, and so the lines disappeared. Once I set it to something else the lines came back.
