BPOLY not working - create a region?

Hello, I am working in my recently updated autocad 2017 and my bpoly command is not working as it usually did in 2015.

I use bpoly command to create and outline around a group of blocks to give the group of blocks a defined heavy outline.

I follow these steps:

- I draw a box around the blocks I would like to bpoly

- Type bpoly command

- in the boundary creation window that opens I select "pick points"

- select on the screen area between the rectangle outline and the blocks I want to bpoly outline

- select enter and a new window pops up that says.... "Polyline boundary could not be derived. Create Region?" I have answered yes and no at different times and neither works for me.

You can see in the attached image that it selects the outside boundary of some blocks, the inside of other blocks, and no outline around some others. I would like it to create one outline around all the blocks as it usually does.

Please help!

would you attache here your dwg sample ( as Autocad 2013 file format ) for testing ?

IMO - AutoCAD's boundary detection has always suffered when there are one or more reverse curves involved. I suspect the same code is used for detecting hatch boundaries.

So are you saying that boundary detection worked on this exact same configuration of entities, using AutoCAD 2015?

BTW: "BPOLY" was killed off in AutoCAD 2004. It was slightly amusing to see a reference to it today. (It's still defined as an alias in the PGP file - 14 years later)

Yes, bpoly command worked the perfectly in 2015, but doing the same exact process in 2017 fails. Any ideas why?

Are you clicking points or actually selecting objects?

Any reason you are shy about posting that DWG file the image came from?
