need help creating a large 8' ring in autoCAD

I need to create a .dxf file type design of a 8' ring with offset center which can be used by a water jet cutting company. The ring will be stainless steel and used within a sculpture design as seen in the sketch I have attached. Just downloaded the version of autocad to try out. Would also be willing to pay for a quick file of this.

can you tell us exactly what is your need ? what is your AutoCAD difficulty that you need help for it ?

This is a job for Inkscape or Illustrator.

It turns images to 2D vectors.

Illustrator goes direct to dwg/dxf.

Inkscape may need a bridge with the svg format.

But it is not a task for Autocad unless you attach the image and draw on it.

I need to have a large stainless steel "ring" fabricated that will be attached to a large bronze eagle (as seen in the above sketch). Since the people I work with need to have a .dxf file to use in order to water cut the metal, I need to create it or have someone create the ring in autoCad(?). It needs to be 3d I believe since they will cut each side of the ring, and also the sheet metal that will be used to connected the two. It is about 5"-6" deep. The ring will not be solid steel but made out of ½"-¾" steel.

Does that make sense? I hope not to confuse anyone with this request.

Ron-C, sorry that may not be exactly what I need. The circles need to be true and it looks as if these are a bit oblong. Thank you though. I am also finding out if it needs to be 3d since the sides of the ring need to be cut as well, and not just each side of the ring. Thanks!

Plain AutoCAD is probably the wrong tool for a perfect ring: is this a one off need or are you in the fabrication industry?
What is the water jet cutting company suggest for software? Do they offer cad services?

I am only good in clay sculpture which gets cast in bronze. I am not great in digital arts unfortunately. The company who fabricates the ring in steel by way of water jet cutting is requesting a .dxf file type. AND THANKS! This is very helpful having this forum.

You need to specify the diameter of each circle along with concentric or eccentric so helpers you can get it right.

Small things like this are good to take to a school that teaches cad and let them do it. Find a 2 year school near you and call the front desk and ask to speak with the department chair/head of the CAD dept. Tell the dept. head what you need and what you want to pay and he can see if a student wants to do it as a side project. You'll need to provide a sketch and notes of exactly what you need and what sizes. It's a good learning experience for the student and you get some one off cheap cad work.

Why not using the excess from ring cut-out and make strips for the thickness of the rings, how are they going to attach sheet metal to Stainless Steel rings?

Roll the strips and tig weld them.

Cut them out out of 4'x8' sheet or maybe two.
