View Depth in Paper Space

I currently use Autocad to produce Arrangement Drawings for large structures. I work in any program and export 3d dwg files into model space. then illsutrate different aspects of the structure using viewports in paper space.

When producing section views, elevations and multi level plan views, I have had issue from filtering out what I do and dont want to show in a viewport.

For example, when i want to show a first floor plan view, the steel work illustrated for second floor is also shown overlapping.

Using other software I have been able to produce section views with set view depths, but i cant find any equivalent to this on Autocad. Is there any such option to limit view depth? The only option i have found it to do additional layers for every floor, and perspective.

an example of what i mean from the software, tekla, is below

http://detailingexpress.co.uk/structuralsteeldraftingservices/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/minor-works-3-Tekla-3d-cad-engineering-Detailing-International-1.jpg

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Yes, as you are finding, AutoCAD relies heavily on the use of layers to control what is displayed. You might also want to try 3dCLIP, section planes/live sectioning and perhaps even use VIEWBASE for additional options.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

You can consider SECTIONPLANE command too.

Manipulations in the right-clic (to get what you need). Because it is an object. Relative to any UCS.

Easier than other techniques ? Well, depends.

It is also compatible with perspective view (did I understand well that it is your issue)
