I assueme that you know the x and y coordinates for these columns and that you want them to sit flush with the non-level base object. Try the following:

Make the columns taller than required and position them where you want in x,y so that the top ends are at the correct elevation but the botttom ends penetrate the base solid.

Make a copy of the base with a displacement of 0,0,0.

Invoke the subtract command and select the columns [enter] then the copy of the base (or the orgnal).

Some of the columns that pierce through the base may have a separate component below the bottom of the base as a result f the subtract. In addition, subtract will combine all the columns into one object. To enable the deletion of the unwanted objects and separate the columns as separate solids object use the solidedit command followed by B (body) then P (seParate).

PLACING ONE SOLID OVER ONE ANOTHER

I have a column that needs to be positioned on top of a slab. However, using snaps isn't feasible because the column's outline varies in height. Instead, I've drawn the column separately. Now, I need to accurately place it atop the slab without any snap points available due to the varied height of the column's outline. Is there a command that allows the column to seamlessly connect with the slab or another 3D solid?

Well construction wise, you should end up with the column bases all connected without any gaps to the slab. But if you must have gaps, you should be able to use the ID command to identify which point is the lowest. Then object snap to that point and move that to the slabs elevation.

You should be able to do this using >Point Coordinate Filters<. Move them from anywhere on the bottom end to the .XY of the same anywhere, and give it the Z coordinate of the top of the slab, which you can get by Osnapping to anywhere on it, such as one of the corners.
