I recently re-installed Autocad and my dashed lines are terminating oddly. I understand Autocad typically puts half of a dash at each end of a dashed line. I have never had an issue with this before. After re-install, this is no longer the case. Is there a variable I need to change?

LTSCALE = 1

MSLTSCALE = 1

(Linetype in attachment is phantom but same concept applies)

Another example of issue attached, along with DWG to match.

I wish it was a display issue. You can see from my previous attachment that when the line is selected, there is no dash segment at the end of the line (where the grip is shown). Plotting shows the same thing.

I just checked and hidden lines are okay. I could only get it reproduce with phantom and center linetypes. Still doesn't answer why Valentin could not reproduce.

Would one of you be willing to upload the standard .lin file so I can try replacing mine and see if that fixes it?

Grabbing at straws here, and not sure the answers will suggest any solution, but they might to someone....

Does it do the same in all object types [Lines, "lightweight" & "heavy" Polylines, Arcs, Splines, partial Ellipses, Mlines, Rays]?

And if it does it in Polylines, does it make any difference whether linetype generation is enabled?

What happens with closed shapes [closed/full Ellipses, Circles, closed Polylines/Splines]?

Did any of the suggestions in the link at Message 2 make a difference? Specifically, is it affected by toggling the Hardware Acceleration setting [GRAPHICSCONFIG command]?

Not being able to reproduce your problem lead me to try and trace over your lines in the posted pictures.

From the pictures attached, I would say that you have a unique setup that deranges end portions of lines occasionally. The start of the lines and intermediate line sections match up, but sometimes the end section of the line is terminated strangely. Perhaps a repair or re-installation would help.

Thank you to all for the replies! I figured it out.

But first, to close the loop on the latest comments.

I asked about the .lin because I have recently added custom linetypes, although I didn't edit any of the standard linetypes. I thought maybe somehow hidden/phantom may have been changed during this process. This was not the issue.

I found that all object types behaved this way, except splines curiously. Behavior persisted regardless of PLINEGEN value.

Closed polylines did not provide dashed segments each side of verticies, regardless of PLINEGEN value. This behavior mimics how lines are displaying.

Closed shapes without verticies (ellipses, circles) work fine since they have no end points.

>>Did any of the suggestions in the link at Message 2 make a difference? Specifically, is it affected by toggling the Hardware Acceleration setting [GRAPHICSCONFIG command]?

This right here is what solved it. My sincere apologies to all for not trying this sooner. I did walk through that link when it was posted, but somehow missed the GRAPHICSCONFIG setting. When I turn it OFF, the problem goes away. Therefore, as others have identified, it was a display issue. As noted in the original post, I recently re-installed Autocad and this setting seems to be ON by default.

Thank you again to all. I still think this thread will be useful in the future if others come upon this issue.
