Hello ,

I hope this is not to silly of a question and I have searched for a couple of days for the answer to my problem before posting. I can not get my dimension to snap next to my object. In other words I will snap a dimension to an object in front view and it will be the correct dimension but when I look at it any other view ( SW ISO ) the dimension though correct is a few feet away from the object. I have found that it is staying to 0 on the Y axis. I am snapping the dimensions using OSNAP but still it appears away from the object. Is there a way to keep my dimension in the same linear plane as my object. I have also found that moving my object to 0,0,0 will put my dimension where I want but would rather figure out how to move my dimension next to my object without having to do it manually ( grab and drag lol ) I have attached a picture for reference.

Thank you

Jeff

Dimensions apply themselves on the CURRENT UCS only. You need to alter the UCS to set where you want annotation to apply.

You can set ELEVATION as well, in 2 clicks (one would have been better and I ask myself if it was not so in ancient versions) or by typing it.

Faster and enough if the UCS is well oriented.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question. I am a little unsure of where and when to input the command you have listed. I am guessing the command bar but at what point ?

Very much appreciate you taking the time to answer and screencast the solution. I actually had gotten to the point of moving my object to a new

USC but the process you showed is much more fluid than what I was doing.

 Thank you

 Jeff

Thank you and yes changing the USC relative to the object I want the dimension next to does seem to be the best way.

But you have to include it into a menu, a toolbar or a ruban.

The best would be that you use a palette (CTRL+3). I drag a line or a stupid object than I obtain a button. Click-right -> properties -> use an icon set to No then macro in the 3rd line.
