Hello all,

I work for a design firm creating designs for Ice shows. We have started using View Base Sections but we are having problems with the exposure value in the view bases being darker than in regular view-ports. I know you can change the exposure value for regular view-ports,because we adjust that already, but is there a command that can adjust the exposure value in the view base windows?

Thanks,

Mark Schmidt

Hotopp Associates, Ltd.

I am asking about the EXPVALUE command that can be used to increase the brightness of the render enviroment. We are matching pantone colors and we need to increase the default brightness of the shaded viewports so that the colors are rendering as close to the color we are asking from the artisans.

Here is an example. This first image is set at the default level, 8.8.; the second image is set to 8.0. I am trying to get my VIEWBASE windows to render with the 8.0 exposure level so that they are brighter.

EXPVALUE = 8.8 (CAD default)

And here is an example of a standard viewport set at 8.0 with the view base section set next to it

Can you please upload a drawing?

I'm unsure bout "viewbase window to render" ... either you have a viewbase object (which I would not render) or you have a viewport and that is set to be rendered.

Hi @Anonymous,

I don't believe this is possible with ViewBase views. EXPVALUE is designed to work with the RENDER command. This can not be executed in paperspace which is where the Viewbase views reside.

I am not aware of any way to change the light intensity for the projected views. I did try adding spot lights (turning off default lighting) but that has no effect at all.

Hi,

alternative was already mentioned ... use viewports, these can be set to be rendered and so you have all render tools to adjust brightness, shadows, ...

Thank you Alfred. We do use EXPVALUE to adjust the brightness in viewports to render them correctly. I was hoping there was a command for view base layouts that adjusted the brightness.

In model space we create blocks for each of the vignettes we have designed so when we make changes to the area, the changes are made globally to the block. In order to get section views to render with the same brightness, we use x-clip to cut off the block and then overlay hatches. We were just hoping for a way to use the functionality of view base sections of the base model that automatically update when the model is changed. I am making the suggestion of adding the functionality of adjusting brightness in viewbase windows in paperspace.

Thank you for your input!

Mark
