How can I convert a tube into a solid cylinder ?

I need to convert each tube to a solid cylinder (see attached file) in order to make this design printable, I couldn't do that easily. The orginal design is imported to autocad from mathematica. I really appreciate your help.

There are no easy ways to do this. Solid modeling and polygonal have little in common. I always draw new solids in AutoCAD and I never use imported models. In your case, you just have to draw the spiral and extrude a circle along the path.

It is hollow inside , I want it to be filled in order to be able to 3D print it . Thin shell was not printable.

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

This is a rather involved process and depending on the original geometry, you may or may not be able to get this to work in AutoCAD.

I started closing the ends of each of the tubes with SURFPATCH

I then used ConvToSurface, MeshSmooth (faceted, not optimized), and then finally SurfSculpt.

One of the tubes converted fairly easily in this manner. The other two were more troublesome.

I suspect that doing this work in Fusion 360 would be much easier. It looks (visually) that many of the normals are reversed. In Fusion 360 these can be corrected and then stitched together

I used the same method just as you

1 tosu，convtosurface all the 3dfaces to surfaces

2 uni，union all the surfaces to single one

3 pat，surfpatch all the six ends of tubes to form the watertight one

4 Lpt， surfsculpt all the surfaces to solids

5 solidedit/separate, separate the whole solid to three single ones

regarding the intent here, couldnt we just simply delete the interior face?
