How far back a version did you upgrade from? The workaround has been the same for a few versions now...

ReCreate the "Classic" Workspace with all the toolbars and pulldown menus from old (with no Ribbon) in about one minute:

MENUBAR command, turn it on = 1 (4 seconds)
Go to Tools > toolbars > acad > layers (5 seconds)
hoover over layers toolbar > right click > properties (3 seconds)
hoover over any toolbar > right click > standard (3 seconds)
hoover over any toolbar > right click > styles (3 seconds)
hoover over any toolbar > right click > workspaces (3 seconds)
RIBBONCLOSE command (3 seconds)
arrange toolbars as you desire (20 seconds)
WORKSPACE command, SAVEAS option, CLASSIC will be the new name you type (5 seconds)

these toolbars are from years of acquiring from different coworkers.

usually once I load the my custom menu, they would pop up with the newly loaded menu. Not doing it with '19. Menus and pull downs are appearing and working as usual.

also (not to over burden you), Acad 19 will not save a drawing. It started out giving me the error saying that I was trying to save a read only file within my dwg. I opened a new dwg and put only the following text..."this is a test". Nothing else is in the drawing. Now I am getting the message...."One or more objects in this drawing cannot be saved to the specified format. The operation was not completed and no file was created.

HI @Anonymous,

Is it possible to share your toolbars on a post so I can see why they might not be loading? Have you tried using the -Toolbars command at the command line?

With regards to the Saving issue, where are you saving your files? are you saving to a local drive, network, cloud location? Or are you opening the file that is contained as an attachment in an email? The operating system controls file locking and permissions.

What file format do you have set as the default? When you create or open (and save) a drawing in AutoCAD 2019, it will have newer versions of AEC content placed in it. You can use -EXPORTTOAUTOCAD to save it down to a prior version with only AutoCAD content.

for the menus, be sure to delete the .mnr files before starting acad, they are right next to the .cuix.

Do you see the toolbars in the CUI tree though? If you can load the menu but not see them, you have an interesting problem. In general though, cui's from previous releases load into new ones.

Be sure if you have images or a .dll for them its present in support paths.

BTW, why anyone would store custom menus in cui or cuix files is beyond me.

THe original .mnu format is so much better as its text file based, not CUI, and just always works.

Once you go cui, you are stuck with any mistakes adesk makes in reading or using them, like you might be right now.

I have some commands on toolbars in my old version of Autocad 2010 that I would like to add to the Acad 2019 ribbon or tool palettes, whichever is more appropriate. I’ve exported my Acad 2010 settings using Migrate: will importing those settings into Acad 2019 mess things up?

I would really just like to find a way to add a few old tool buttons to my new 2019 palettes but have no clue where to start, and have never really understood the Migration process, nor been successful in getting it to work.
