You cannot explode an xref, however, you can explode a block. First convert the xref into a block by binding it to the drawing then explode it.

Want the whole xref drawing? use BIND

Want a part of xref? Xcopy

No way to explode xref.

Command XREF,

select your DWG XRef(only DWG!)

RightClick on this selected item..

Read about bind ootions in your help first.

I'm finding alot of 'hidden features' in this 2022 version...as opposed to 2008.

The issue is that I cannot bind it either as that option is greyed out. Can I please just be able to simply flatten the visible layers in a dwg in one simple file?

that usually means the xref that is selected is a "child" xref, aka it resides in another XREF you have loaded.

May I ask if just opening that XREF (XOPEN or right-click in the XREF palette to select OPEN), doing what you need to do, QSAVE, close then reload it an option?
