As shown in this image some of the curves drawn are not shown in correct location relative to other curves in drawing. This issue has only occurred in paperspace viewports. It happens, not always, but frequently. It makes selecting line difficult in fast paced drafting. I can't find a setting to fix this this. Any suggestions to a fix would be appreciated. I am using AutoCad full 2017.

Thanks,

Brad

I'm not sure what curves you are talking about as it looks like you have straight lines highlighted, but does a regenall fix it? Or what do you do to fix it? It's hard to tell just from an image. Can you post a dwg with the above image and the paperspace it's in to see if it can be replicated? You can make it a new drawing and delete everything else.

They look like straight lines but they are slight arc's. The lines(curves, arc's) highlighted are not shown in its "actual location". I haven't found a way of fixing this. It seems to be a recurring issue. They move up and down as I zoom in and out, sometimes stopping in the proper location. Pretty weird...

Well they shouldn't be able to actually move so it sounds like a graphics issue. Try toggling your hardware acceleration. Check to see if your graphics card has new drivers out or if autodesk has a specific driver listed for it to use in the list of certified graphics cards on their site. Same for autocad make sure it's fully patched up.

Not sure if it would effect your issue, but if the graphics card is having trouble with arcs maybe the variable VIEWRES is set too high.

Also this variable WHIPARC. I understand what this one does but I've never messed with it so not sure how it would affect your issue.

Hi, I am having the same issue when I get into paperspace. My 'angled' lines move out of place. Also, my arc's become pixeled as if paperspace is struggling with anything that isn't at a 90 degree angle. Did you figure this out? Was it some type of new download I needed to update?

I have Auto CAD Student 2020.

It is caused by the simplificated visualisation of arcs and circles - especially in the viewport.

To explain this: AutoCAD (and all other comparable drafting programs) is incapable of drawing circles and arcs. Instead it is drawing regular polygons (with equal sizes of the lines) pretending to be arcs and circles, wich works well, because e.g. a 300 sided regular polygon looks like a circle; or an octagon is detailed enough, if the "circle" is zoomed far out.

With a high radius the arc can be shown with too less polygons in the viewport - for performance reasons. This is why REGEN helps here - the details are temporarily recalculated.

I once had the same effect in one of my drawings.

There, it was even a part of a polyline, that was shown in the wrong position...and when i zoomed slowly in / out (with a 3D-Mouse), the arc jumped wildly around at random.

There is nothing wrong with the drawings, just inaccuracies in the visualisation for performance reasons.

Regular REGEN, when in Paper Space, does Paper Space. I assume from your description that VIEWRES doesn't dig deeper, either. If you want to regenerate things inside Viewports, too, from Paper Space and all at once, use @pendean's other suggestion: REGENALL.
