I am trying to copy and paste a drawing from one file to another. If I select the objects, ctrl+alt+C and paste it into the same model space, there are no issues. When I try to paste the exact same thing into a different drawing/file's model space, it moves my lines(pipes) randomly up and to the right. The background(building floor plan) stays the same, but my pipes move. If I move them back into place, the sizes are off. It's so strange. I'll attach screenshots.

Anyone have any ideas?

originalall selectedpasted within same drawingpasted into other drawing, notice how the pipes have shifted

The file was created as an export from a 3d fire sprinkler program, so that makes sense that 3d elements are there. Is there a way to flatten it or convert it to 2d?

Here is the other file

Please don't judge it too harshly, the file is a bit of a mess..

Hi,

>> Is there a way to flatten it or convert it to 2d? <<

Yes you can by FLATTEN command . i do it and it's done . just wait and watch your screen when the command is proceed.

>> Please don't judge it too harshly, the file is a bit of a mess.. <<

This is the issue ... when i clean all the model and purge the dwg and detach all those xrefs in your dwg i found that pasting is normal now ( see attached dwg file ) .

from your firsy post >> If I select the objects, ctrl+alt+C and paste it into the same model space <<

there is NO such a command maybe you mean some thing else .

All the best .. 🙂
