Mtext symbol insertion

Namaste. Can anyone help us fixing this? Whenever a ‘symbol’ is inserted in Mtext command, the text there on, changes in both font style and font size.

p.s. The default font style is Arial Unicode MS.

Which text changes: the original text, the symbol text, or all of it? Does the problem occur with all fonts or just that one? Can you provide screenshots and/or a drawing illustrating your problem?

this typically happens if you try to insert a symbol that does not exist within the font you are using.

For example, if you try to place a centerline symbol \U+2104 while using the Arial font, it will change to an ISO... font for the symbol. If you check the Arial font, it does not contain any symbol in the \U+2104 slot.

Let me elaborate this a bit more. We use Arial Unicode MS as the default font in all our drawings and if I have to use a symbol like ß (beta) or Ø (phi), we end up doing gymnastics with them to use it rightly! The text we type, following any of such symbols, (a) will not be in Arial Unicode MS (b) will be in an un-set or unintended text height. And to change this text to required font and size, there are times where default text setting of Autocad does not permit easily. This retards work.

I'm not using AutoCAD 2019, but in 2018 I experience your problem when I paste the symbol in, but do not experience the problem when I right-click and select "Paste Special >" and then "Paste without Any Formatting". Try that method and see if it works in 2019.

Glad it helped. I actually have a list of special characters that I use frequently across many programs. I store the list in a .txt file, which opens with Microsoft Notepad by default on Windows. I use a keyboard shortcut to open the file.

The advantage of this is two-fold:
1) You don't have to hunt through such a long list when trying to find the special character you want
2) Notepad automatically removes all formatting, so you can just paste it directly in

My file is attached below as an example.
