I work in 2D and NEVER use 3D, but for some reason I cannot rid the "Z" value on these lines inside the CAD file. Yes it's only with a certain account that I have this trouble with, no other acccounts/drawings have this issue. I'm just so done with having to "flatten" all of the lines every time just to fillet or connect them. Isn't there an easy setting to prevent this? Again, I'm not in 3D, nor working with a 3D file, doesn't matter if it's a new line I'm drawing or not CAD will free-willingly make it a line in the "Z" axis without me knowing until I'm trying to fillet or whatever.

How can I prevent this "Z" axis 3D problem in 2D? THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!

You can toggle the replace z value button on as seen in image. If that is set to zero and checked even if you are snapping to something that is say 3' up on the Z axis it will still place it at 0 elevation.

I'm still having the same issues, I'm going to try the help center and read through what I can, I doubt it will be anymore helpful than what I've already researched. Values of 1 and 0 have not made a difference, I've even turned off the 3D toggle and snap setting hoping that would change things and it has not.

I greatly appreciate everyone's input, you've been great!!

I will let you know what I find if a solution falls into my lap.

Happy CAD'ing!!

Because, what I read above ("OSNAPZ setting on 1 will always draw o elevation") is not correct. OSNAPZ=1 doesn't draw at Z=0, but it ignores the Z value of a snapped coordinate and draws at Z=Elevation.

cadder

Yes, I've tried both and still get the same Z value happening, thus I could not fillet two lines to connect because they're in different "planes" or axis's. It did not work for me, it may work for others which is great! I may have something else going on with my CAD or another user in this particular account. It does happen with other files of mine, but not as consistent as this specific account files. I may have to reach out to the other end user to see what their values are set at. If they're working in 3D then it would answer my problem. Although, my lines shouldn't be drawing in the Z axis if my 3D settings and snaps are off.

Currently, I'm still "flattening" all of the lines to then move forward working in the file. Although, this is very time consuming, it is working for now.

I am having this problem. My osnapz was set to 1. I have figured out why this is happening. I am using downloaded cad dwgs from Hoffman and Allen Bradley. They offer 2 and 3d files. They must be using the 3d models to make the 2d and they are at different z depths. I copy and paste what I need into my file. The osnap does not always land at z=0. I am going to try using 0,0,0 when I insert using ctrl v.
