Yes, I am aware that you can choose any scale. When I choose 1/8" = 1'-0", the drawing becomes much smaller instead of much larger, which is what it should be. I'm not sure why this is, but I believe it has to do with my units and needing to scale the drawing a specific way. This is what I am inquiring about on this forum.

I am working on a project that has been drawn at 1:1. The majority of the layouts are set to a scale of 1" = 20'-0". For one particular sheet that will be plotted, I need to zoom into my plan to create a viewport with a scale of 1/8" = 1'-0". Is there a way to do this without changing the units for the entire drawing? The zoomed-in portion of the plan will be dimensioned, etc. Toggling between engineering and architecture scales is always confusing. Please help!

It can be any scale

1/8" = 12"

1"=96"

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

I am guessing that for the engineering portion your drawing is actually set to feet. Since Architectural units are usually inches you will have to adjust the 1/8"=1'-0" by a factor of 12 to get the scale correct.

You are welcome to attach a sample file for me to check my assumption.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

1/96xp for 1/8"=1'-0"

then you use 1/8xp for Engineering Base sheet.

@Anonymous wrote:

I suspect, then, that your drawing unit is a foot, rather than an inch. Don't pick a scale from the list, but rather pick the Viewport, and in the Properties palette's "Custom Scale" slot, type 1/8.

Thanks! I figured out something along the sames lines. I made a custom viewport scale to 1" = 8', since this is the same as 1/8" = 1'.

Thanks to everyone who responded.
