DXF not showing all layers from DWG

I am not a very frequent AutoCAD user so any help is much appreciated. I am using AutoCAD 2018. I have a dwg file which I am trying to convert to a dfx file so I can import it into a different software. The converted dfx file imports fine, however it is missing many layers from the original dwg file. It looks like only a single layer from the original dwg file is contained in the dfx file.

Where all layers on/thawed/unlocked before you created the DXF file?
What method did you use to create the DXF?
What there an error message or warning at the commandline right after you created the DXF?

First verify if the objects are in the DXF-file or not, you can do that by closing your original DWG-file and open the DXF-file you created ... do you see now all objects? If yes (what I assume) then the other software can't read the DXF correctly.

You might try to reopen your original DWG-file in AutoCAD, then start command _SAVEAS and select a very old DXF-format (like DXF 2000), maybe the other software can work better with that file.

I figured out a solution. It turns out the program I am trying to import the drawings into does not like blocks. I had to explode all of the blocks and the problem was solved.
