I need my text to print out on a A1 sheet at 2.5mm. In Paper Space Layout 1 which is scaled at 1:100 the text in Model Space is 250, which is fine, however in Layout 2 which is scaled at 1:200 the Model Space text at 250 is scaled down to 1.25mm which is to small.

How do I get the to layouts at different scales to both display & print text at 2.5mm

Hi,

Annotative text, when set correctly, only prints to one size at any actual plot or viewport scale: why don't you post your DWG file here and let's see what you've tried so far for annotative settings.

You only need two things to make it work:

You need an annotative text style.

Check 'Annotative'

2. You need to turn on both Show Annotative Text Objects and Add Scales to Anno Obj When Scale Changes.

Make both icons BLUE.

Hi,

sorry, seems I have mistaken a click to modelspace and zoomed during my tests.

Well, let's start step-by-step.

Open your drawing

change to layout 2

set sysvar ANNOALLVISIBLE to 0 (which means only show the objects that fits to the current scale

==> you'll see the text objects disappear, because in the second layout the viewport has a scale set to 1:200, but your text has only assigned scale 1:1 to be shown

change to "Model" (modelspace, first tab of layouts)

select your text objects

in the property window click to the right-side icon of the "annotative scale" to change the scales your text is assigned to be displayed and add both, 1:100 as well as 1:200

Well, next step is to make sure your drawing units match to the units you want to work, because your drawing units are set to Inches ... when you then defined the text to be 25 high AutoCAD sees that as 25 inches ... and that is what you now should see in your layouts (the text is correct scaled, but too large).
