Plotting not honoring polygonal viewport boundary, printed clipped parts

In paper space i have a sheet set up with a polygonal viewport, when i plot to pdf the sheet turns out the way i expect it to. When i plot to our hp plotter the drawing in my viewport shows beyond the viewport boundary like the viewport is larger or non existant. Is there a fix for this?

Hi,

please allow me some questions:

which plotter and driver?
which version and update of AutoCAD (command _ABOUT ==> screenshot would be great)
do you have the chance to plot to a different device? Not your plotter and not PDF ...

If AutoCAD works correctly when plotting to PDF then it's not an issue with the drawing, ... so we have more to look into the connection AutoCAD to plotter.

If you can plot to PDF without issues but get funny results when you plot hard copies, then it sounds like the plotter making the hard copies has a bad set up. You may have chosen a sheet size that's too small for the print job and your drawing won't fit inside of it. The PDF set up should also be checked out. If your PDF is set to "Fit to paper" it will fit onto the sheet and look nice but it won't be scaled accurately. One page set up printing good and another page set up printing bad sounds fishy. Check plot dialog window before printing, or better yet, provide screen shots.

BTW, your polygonal VP isn't extending beyond the dotted, is it? The dotted line represents the printable area and anything going beyond it won't print. You can max out the printable area by pushing all four sides of the dotted line outwards till you hit the edge.

Hi @Anonymous,

I agree with @ChicagoLooper's analysis of the issue. If you can plot to PDF correctly then the cause of this issue is likely with the HP driver or PC3.

Did this problem just start happening? Did you migrate your PC3 from a previous version of AutoCAD? YOu might try printing from AutoCAD straight tho the HP System driver rather than the PC3 to see if that makes any difference. You might also try the HP universal print driver to see if that helps.
