Change plan scale in AutoCAD

How can I change 1:1 scale in a floor plan to 1/1000 or 1/500 ?

Don't change the plan information -- keep that all at "full size," so that when you need to make something 2 drawing units bigger, you can Move or Stretch it by 2 units, and not have to figure out what the distance would be at your intended reduced scale, and so that when you check the size of something, or Dimension it, the values are correct.

Get into a Paper Space Layout and make a Viewport, and set the plotting/printing scale for that. Read in Help about the PSPACE, VPORTS and related commands [Help lists related commands in its entries], and I'm sure there are many videos and screencasts that will show you the procedures.

You can attach the file to a forum post. You need to actually come to the forums to do it. If you attach it in an email reply it won't work. There's an "browse to attachment" button below the text field when commenting. Press and browse to your file on your computer. I assume that since you said that you are a beginner that the file has no work sensitive information in it that you don't care if anyone can see on the forums. However if it does then you can email it to John instead. If you can just post it on the forums that is always better as then everyone can help you and not just the person you send it to.

Hey @diegosales7HP9H,

Is the floor plan in subject in the model space or in the paper pace? I would support what my community members have mentioned above, that its good practice to always work with a scale of 1:1 in the model space, and I would strongly advice this.

If I understand your question correctly, you wish to add a custom scale of 1/1000 or even 1/500. You can always add these under the annotate tab in the annotation scaling panel

In the edit drawing scales dialogue box choose add

Finally you may add whichever scale you want, making sure to keep the drawings units value to be same value as scale desired.

I have tried to answer the query the best way I understood this. Hope this helps you out or give an idea about the same.

Hey,
This should work. After creating the custom scale desired, you can allocate the scale to the viewport from the task bar, while in the layout/paper space.

Hi @diegosales7HP9H,

As others have shown in their posts, this is actually quite easy to do. YOu can keep your model at 1:1 so it is easy to work with and with no conversions.

The place to set your scale is in paperspace. I made a video that shows your file. I create a new layout, assign a named page setup to establish papersize and some other plot characteristics. You will note that the plot scale is left at 1:1. This means the "paper" you see on the screen is a reflection of the real 1:1 paperit would plot on.

Once I apply th a pagesetup, I can then edit the scale list and add any custom scales. I added 1:200, 1:500, and 1:1000.

I show how once the scale is in the list, you can simply enter modelspace through your viewport and then apply the scale.
