Geometric centre snap isn't working properly 2018

I have a drawing with a closed square polyline and I'm trying to move it so the centre is snapped to the end of a different polyline. Previously I could just use the geometric centre snap to do this. At the moment I'm getting all the midpoint/endpoint markers, but the centre snap marker doesn't appear anywhere near the centre. I have drawn a square with .450 sides, and the geometric centre snap marker is appearing 15.389 away at an angle on 208.024. If I draw an irregular polygon, then the snap will appear in the correct place.

For your information, I am using CAD 2018. Any help to understand why this is happening will be appreciated.

Post your DWG file with the shape, let's all try it.

I have removed everything (except the square) from the drawing as I could potentially get into trouble with work.

I can indeed replicate it. But if I MOVE your object to the AutoCAD center-of-the-universe 0,0,0 it works just fine.

I'll assume your 588494 meters distance from that 0,0,0 point is the culprit.

Mid of two points might help to select the base point while moving the object..

Thanks for looking in to it. I don't understand why that is happening though. All the drawings we do are to national grid references, and I've never come across this issue before.

The issue also exists in R2017 and R2019 as well with your file: so I'm not sure there is going to be an Autodesk fix anytime soon.

Time for a workaround... .

We don't know which dimensions has your "irregular polygon". If I increase the size of your geometrie to a 1x1 square the snap works correct. I guess your square is too small for this high range of coordinates.

I actually tried with a smaller irregular polygon and it seems the geometric centre is off as well, although it's not as bad as the square. It seems like you're probably right.

Thanks for looking into that. For the purpose of my drawing I'll be able to use ganesh's solution.

I will be accepting your response as a solution as it can be a temporary workaround for my drawing, however it isn't the best fix. It would be good if Autodesk could look into this to try and find/create a proper solution.

Hi, sorry I'm still pretty new to AutoCAD. ~~I tried using From in combination with Mid Between Two Points and I don't think I'm even getting close. Can you be a little more detailed in your steps of how to do this?~~ Geometric Center snap is still not working for a square/rectangle.

Now I see. From is not necessary. Just use Mid Between Two Points and choose corners that are diagonally opposite each other.
