Excel Datalink Table sizing in AutoCAD

Is there any way to change the scale or ratio of the table created from an Excel Datalink before you insert it into autocad?

Also what is differnce is creating a Datalink or inserting an OLE object?

Is that something you can just fix in Excel in the first place?

Are you plotting from modelspace or paperspace?

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

When you place your tables via a Datalink are you doing so in Modelspace or Paperspace? Is this where you are finding the scale is wrong? I like to insert my tables in paperspace as this seems more reliable to maintain the formatting that has already been done in Excel. I find that the Windows display scaling can also affect the behavior of the table. I like to keep my scaling at 100% whenever possible.

I would avoid OLE tables as embedding the table can work fine until there is an update/upgrade of one piece of software that breaks the registry. Moving the linked file can also break the relationship. It is also not cross-platform compatible.

I am not sure if I can fix it via excel. I am trying to see if there is way to do it without using the paperspace as I dont really work in the paperspace.

Hi @Anonymous,

There are a couple things that come to mind:

If you place the table in paperspace you can use the CHSPACE command to move it into your model and I believe it should retain all the formatting.

You can place the table in modelspace and make any formatting changes. Subsequent updates from the Excel file should retain the formatting.
