topic Arc Aligned Text Explode problems in AutoCAD Forum

I need to create Arc Aligned Text and then explode it so I can laser cut out the letters on a sheet of steel. The only way to explode them is with the standard explode command, BUT every time I do this, it changes my required FONT back to a standard stick type of FONT. If I try to explode in the Express Tools with Modify Text, Explode, it tells me zero objects found. If I cant explode the arc aligned text, is there another way to put down some text on an arc so the letters can be exploded?

Thanks.

2019 here - explode and then TXTEXP works fine. What version are you using?

Yes that will further explode it so it can be edited and laser cut, BUT it still does not prevent the font from being changed back to a stick font, I need a solution to explode it and remain in the same font.

When you explode a straight line of text in ANY font, it remains in that font, but the arc align text always switched the font back to a stick font or ariel font as my screen shot demonstrates.

First make sure you have a text style using that font, and set that style current. Now explode it and so forth.

Not sure what you mean by

"First make sure you have a text style using that font, and set that style current."

If the font is in my Autocad as an available font, and it can be exploded and used as a stright line of text, it should be fine for Arc Align text shouldnt it? And it doesnt matter what FONT I try to use, it always changes it back to the ariel or stick style font.

DWG is attached....

Thanks.

First create a new text style. Do you know how to do this?, if not let us know and we can walk you through it.

The new text style should use the Forte font used in your arctext.

Set that text style current. Do you know how to do this?, if not let us know and we can walk you through it.

Now explode the arctext. Now use txtexp command.

Then cleanup will be required. If you want hints on this let us know.

To create a text style - (one way of several)

At the command line type STYLE, a dialog box will pop up. On the right side is a New... button, pick that, in the subdialog box type in a name or accept the style 1 name offered, pick ok.

Now move to the left on the text style dialog box and pick on the new style name you just created, in the center of the dialog is Font Name, use the drop down to fine the font desired, in this case Forte, at the bottom pick the Apply button.

Back to the upper right pick Set Current box, down to the lower area for the Close Button.

Now try exploding again.
