I upgraded to a gaming mouse with programmable buttons and it has been quite helpful in the use of AutoCad, however, is there a shortcut for the "MOVE" command? This would be so nice to have instead of having to type "M" in the command bar and then hitting enter. I'm running 2022

Perhaps it’s possible to program your mouse so that one of the buttons does a M and enter? Btw you can also hit the space bar as an enter since it’s just right below the letter M

What brand mouse is it? Are you asking to assign move to a mouse button? Can you assign MOVE or M command to a button using the mouse software?

You could also create a MOVE shortcut command and a Shortcut Key in the CUI.

Logitech G502. Yes, I basically want the scroll button to the left to act as a "MOVE" command. I don't see any MOVE commands in the CUI.

@joe_kohli Short answer, no, your mouse button software does not know how to activate an AutoCAD command, and CUI command does not have hooks into your mouse driver to override the mouse driver.

But... your mouse driver has many keyboard button functions that can be assigned to the buttons you want to customize: find those key combos, set each button to a different one, then use CUI command to assign MOVE to one of those key combos (assuming it is not doing anything else).

Just remember, in ALL programs on your PC, an in windows, those buttons are going to activate that keyboard key combo all the time. So choose wisely.

Autodesk offers this very abbreviated post on the topic

https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Assigning-AutoCAD-commands-to-mouse-buttons.html#:~:text=Assigning%20shortcuts,the%20command%20prompt.

And don't be fooled by this find in CUI command, it's a legacy leftover for those still using old-school tablets from decades ago, it's non-functioning for modern mouse/drivers.

HTH

You should be able to assign commands using the Logitech G-Hub software. I have a Logitech gaming keyboard with 18 G-Keys and I have assigned AutoCAD commands to them using the Logitech software only. It should be the same with the mouse but I could be wrong.

Hello, I use the logitec g305 (or use to, THE SCROLL WHEEL wore out, another story...)

But it is possible to enable the move command, just need to assign a macro using the software that came with your mouse.

This is a screenshot for the logitech area I made my move command. After I typed the command, I literally had to press enter (note enter is not shown for the software I am/was using).

Then after I made the macro, I assigned it a hotkey.

note sure which mouse/program you are using, but I'm sure it's possible with any gaming mouse you can assign macros.

@adrian_cruz-pc - this post has been edited due to Community Rules & Etiquette violation.
