How to change a round Line Edge to square (When lineweight is turn on)

Hi all,

Please help me on this issue, How to change a rounded Line Edge to square. In my drawing I am using lineweight for plotting instead of CTB. My problem is when I turn on line weight, edge of line turn in to carved/round shape, Actually I need it as square like when polyline have thickness , Any idea how to solve it?. Please see the attached image, where image C1 show the line in normal condition, Image C2 show how its look when Lineweight turn on and Image C3 showing no .CTB is used.

It can't be done with lineweights.

Because you are using 'line weight' to plot you can do it by copying the 'acad.ctb' then adjust it to produce square ends. After the adjustment to make square ends, you simply perform a 'Save As' so you'll have a new ctb that produces square ends instead of the default rounded ends. You want to copy acad.ctb and use it as your source because it will NOT change your current lineweights or colors. Try this:

From the plot window change the plot style to acad.ctb then click the EDIT button on the right.Image 1.
ON the Form View tab select the color you wish change. Use shift+mouse to select more than one color. Then select the Line end style dropdown menu to display the options.Image 2.
From the line end style options, select SQUARE. Image 3.
Perform a SAVE AS and give it the name acad_square.ctb. Image 4.
Back in the plot window, change plot style to acad_square.ctb so your lines will print with square ends. Image 5.
To change the appearance of your lines while in a layout, right-click directly on the layout 'tab' itself and select Page Setup Manager from the shortcut. In Page Setup window check Display plot Styles. Image 6.
Step #6 does not produce square ends in modelspace, it only does it for layout tab. If you want it to make square ends on a second layout tab, you'll need to repeat the process for that layout. Layout tab w/square ends. Image 7.

Thanks for your effort, Actually I don't want use any plotstyle so later when I transferring file I don't want to send plot style with them. Is there any way to solve round edge in line weight ?. anyway I am accepting it as a solution so somebody can get benefit of it.

You should use ETRANSMIT to send your drawing, it’s the best way, hands down. Etransmit will automatically create a zip folder that contains the dwg and all periphery files, including the plot style. Run ‘etransmit’ then look inside the zipped folder to see what’s in it. If you like what’s in it, then you can simply email the zip folder.

So, now you have a way to get rid of the round end. What are you going to do with the notches when you have two lines connected at an angle?
