I have a 64bit windows 10 laptop that runs an NVIDIA geforce 940MX, I am using the latest version of Autocad 2019.

I am currently trying to use the presspull command to create windows in a wall and the command cannot even acknowledge the boundaries on the window, it only acknowledges the boundaries of the floor or something else and so i cannot create the window. I have made sure that the boundary is correct and tried to zoom in to the window or even tried to isolate the window, nothing works

While you wait...

Q: if you are in subscription (not maintenance) and you are using AutoCAD 2019, have you considered adding the ARCH Toolset where you draw/add/drop doors/windows as simply as dropping blocks in place, all in 3D if you just rotate the UCS? Here is the explainer page https://www.autodesk.com/products/autocad/included-toolsets/autocad-architecture

I think you can only use 'horizontal' faces to use Presspull on. That is when you dont have the Dynamic UCS enabled. When enabled the face you hoover is automaticaly used to Presspull on.

Click the 'three bar' button on the lower right corner.
Activate the 'Dynamic UCS'button for the statusbar

Activate Dynamic UCS. See if this works.

Hi, Your dwg file is from a student version of AutoCAD so I will guess that you are not on subscription. The AutoCAD Architecture Toolset is available to students via the Autodesk Education site. You would get your license code and key by logging into your student account and finding it under free software.

That said...

I found that your drawing is made up of Regions (simple surfaces) as opposed to solids. Presspull will create surfaces but I have not used this command to remove bounded areas from surfaces. I generally work with solids and Presspull handles removals fine on those.

If you would like to try solids then be sure to click inside of a closed boundary area and not on the lines of the bounded area. Clicking the lines will only create surfaces unless the lines are joined or closed polylines.

I also found that some of your window profiles are not "on plane" with the wall that they appear on. They are inside the wall by as much as 35 units. You can analyze this yourself by using the DI command and selecting a point on the window profile and a point on the wall. Note that there should be a zero value in the axis corresponding to the direction of the window placement on the wall.

Hope this helps a bit?

thank you for your help, I have checked and yes some of the windows are off by 35 units or so. i corrected that and tried again, still the same result, as for using regions... I made the walls using the polysolid command with a preset height and width so its much easier for me, i don't think that should cause any problems with the press pull command

If you made the walls with polysolid they should be Solids. I found Regions! Did you Explode any of these? Select everything in your drawing and look at properties. Use the item list to see 6 3D solids and 59 regions (change color for regions to see them. I think you Exploded???

Presspull will work fine on them if the are solids.

ahhh, thank you. I think I exploded them, let me re create the solids and get back to you if it works
