Multileader custom block with attribute doesn't prompt for text

Hi, silly question of the day.

Much like the title says my multileader custom block with attribute doesn't prompt for text when I add a multileader.

I thought it used to, but now it doesn't....

Any ideas?

Maybe we can give it a test to see what's up, if you post the file.

I do hope you are inserting the block and not just another multileader? The block will prompt for data via attribute but placing a new multileader will not be related to the block at all.

Attached is a sample drawing with the multileader in question.

It's just a straight forward multileader with a block & attribute as the content (for a 2 digit number).

When I click on the multileader button to draw the multileader, it used to open the dialog to add the attribute text, but now it doesn't.

I've been playing around with a few things lately, setting up standards for our company, so I've been in a lot of things.

I just can't think what would do this.

The only AutoCAD setting I found that caused the prompt for attribute value not to appear (at the cursor) was to turn off dynamic input (command "dynmode", I use value of "3") But even when dynamic input was turned off, there was still a prompt at the command line for an attribute value when placing a multileader. With dynamic input turned on, it didn't matter how many times I clicked to place a new multileader, the prompt appeared at the cursor every time. Do you get a prompt at the command line?

I have the dynamic stuff turned off - I'm old school that way. My DYNMODE is set to -1.

I don't get a prompt at the command line or a dialog box, it just finishes the command.

In the instance of multileaders, I'd actually prefer it to be a command line prompt, I wouldn't need to tab to close the dialog then.

On my system, value of -1 still gives the command line prompt....Maybe try setting to a different value, then changing back to -1? I know it makes no sense, but sometimes changing a variable to an "incorrect" value, then changing back will cause things to again behave as desired.

I did that when you said you used 3 - nothing changed (with regard to the multileader).

And INSERT command works as expected, sure?

If not, the problem is not the block or the multileader or the dwg,

the problem is your system setting ATTREQ=0

INSERT seems ok.

I get the dialog box, then select the block to insert, and whatever options I want, and that's what it does.

Nothing funky.

The question was: starts the ATTEDIT dialog after [OK] in INSERT-Dialog or not (ATTEDIT, that the dialog you are searching for, or not ???

If not, set ATTREQ (and attdia) to 1
