I'm trying to carry a profile.arg file from one computer to another (remote location). I've gotten as far as placing a copy of the file on the desktop of the target computer. I am now importing that file to the "profiles" tab in the "options" screen but I do not know what the path should be.

I know this is elementary to all of you but not to me. I've searched for the file on my computer, the internet and on this forum and cannot find the answer.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I apologize, I'm moving the file from 2011 ACAD to a 2016 ACAD machine. This is a new forum format for me so I did not see that it was sectioned off by ACAD versions as it used to be. I do not have the items shown in your attachment.

When I click the "import" button a dialog box comes up and asks for the file name and at the bottom is a check box "include path information". I think if I do not give a path it will go the present file location which is the desktop.

STOP

Arg files are only for export/import profiles between same products and same versions.

You need a migration from older versions.

(But the best way is to know what you need and do this by hand, without this tool. Note: 2011 is really "too" old for migration, it is possible to get problems by this step. But it is your choice.)

This way, if you really want to do that.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-migrate-settings-in-AutoCAD.html

Hi,

that's not part of the program or standard installation, if you like to have a acadmpp.arg file,

you have to create your own or you have to ask someone to create such a file.

Are you searching for the standard mechanical profile <<ACADMPP>>

Use 'Reset to default' and use the export option to save your settings,

Open Mechanical, command OPTIONS, PROFILE, select <<ACADMPP>> & [Export]

Now, you created an ACADMPP.arg file with the <<ACADMPP>> Profile settings in it.

Option: Import customized settings back, if needed.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-import-and-export-backup-settings-to-and-from-AutoCAD.html
