Hi @dbanaszak

You should upload an image showing the PDF where the edge gets cutoff. The forum cannot help you if the issue isn't understood.

And just like the title on sheet C1.1, try making the title of C3.0 to appear on two lines, like this.

.

I have a drawing with 11 tabs that all plot fine except for one of them - it cuts off the right side of the border. All of the tabs reference the same border drawing, and it is inserted at 0,0 and the same scale on each tab. No matter how I plot the tab it always plots with the border cut off. I've checked for stray vectors in the tab, but I can't figure out what is causing this. Any ideas? TIA

You one layout's PAGESETUP command settings do not match all the others: screenshot one that works and compare them. Don't be afraid to reset it to what it needs to be either (select a different plotter then come back, select a different sheet, then come back etc.).

Sometimes, it's just quicker to delete that layout and make a new one.

HTH

I batch plotted the tabs, so the page setup was identical to all. We plot to .pdf utilizing the EXTENTS of the border. When I look at the Page Setup pull-down, all of the tabs are listed except for the one I'm having trouble with. I'm not sure why this is the case, but it sure looks like a smoking gun to me. What could have happened? Thanx

Share that dwg so we can all take a look. I find that hard to believe especially when you’ve copied a good layout and then just added the same objects from the bad layout onto the now good copied layout

Hi,

>>" batch plotted the tabs, so the page setup was identical to all"

"SO" is wrong. Batch plot default is to use the individual pagesetups of each layout, NOT one for all.

(you CAN set up one pagesetup for all, but you have to do it manually by yourself in the publish list)

>>"We plot to .pdf utilizing the EXTENTS of the border."

If we would have your datan, we could help to search the item or different size you're not expeced.

>>"When I look at the Page Setup pull-down,"

>>"all of the tabs are listed except for the one I'm having trouble with."

Page Setup pull-down ???

What you are talking about? The pull-down in PLOT dialog? or in PUBLISH dialog?

Whatever you are talking, it hasn't to do with the problem. It could be a hint, but technically it hasn't to do with it.

>>"I'm not sure why this is the case"

Because nobody created&saved a named pagesetup?

Share you data and we can help directly, without guessing.

I used Batch Plot to get .pdf files that I then send on our plotter. The C3.0 tab is the one that gets shifted.

I created an Alternate layout for this project, to get a large part of it to be a simple mill and resurface, and every tab shows up as offset similar to the C3.0 tab in this file.

I can use a negative 0.3 X-offset in the Plot dialog to get my plots out, but this issue doesn't make a lot of sense. I appreciate the help

Hi @dbanaszak

You should upload an image showing the PDF where the edge gets cutoff. The forum cannot help you if the issue isn't understood.

And just like the title on sheet C1.1, try making the title of C3.0 to appear on two lines, like this.

.

Re: Border being cut off when plotted

@dbanaszak

Look closely at your white sheet on a Layout tab. That dotted line that's adjacent to the edges of the sheet demarcates the Printable Area where AutoCAD is allowed plot. If any linework falls outside those dotted lines it won't plot. Even if the linework if 'ON' the white sheet it won't plot if it's outside the dotted line or in the No-Plot Zone.

You can maximize the printable area by pushing the dotted lines all the way outward so they fall directly on the edge. Go to Plot Properties to do this. Maximizing the printable area eliminates the No-Plot Zone.

FYI, all sheets have dimensions and a name. A 24" x 36" sheet size may have several names. Examples include, but are not limited to:

Arch D (24.00 x 36.00 Inches)
Arch D (36.00 x 24.00 Inches)
Arch Expand D (24.00 x 36.00)
Arch Expand D (36.00 x 24.00)
Arch full bleed D (24.00 x 36.00)
Arch full bleed D (36.00 x 24.00)
Typically, the dimensions are written horizontal x vertical, respectively.

Each named sheet will have its own specific printable area. If you modify the printable area of one named sheet, it won't apply to other named sheets even if they have the same area (square inches). If you use multiple named sheets in your course of work, you should modify all of them. That way you'll maximize the printable area on all sheets regardless of the name and orientation.

If you modify a named sheet, overwrite the existing pc3 file so your future print jobs that use that pc3 will remember the maximum print area settings. A single pc3 file can store all your print settings for all your sheet sizes.

-------------------------------------------------------------

1. The printable area on sheet named ARCH expand D (36.00 x 24.00 Inches) can be maximized (Refer to red #2 below). Make print settings as shown. These settings only affect this specific named sheet. You may also perform the same adjustments to any other sheet names.

Image-1

2. To edit the printable area, do this. Notice #5 down below is the E-X-A-C-T same sheet named in #2 up above.

Image-2

3. Edit the values for Top, bottom, Left, and Right (refer to #7 below). Notice the dotted line in the Preview thumbnail will move outward as you enter the 0's (the new values).

Image-3

4. To overwrite your existing pc3 file, make sure #9 is E-X-A-C-T-L-Y the same as #1 up above. Every time you use the pc3 printer shown in the red #1 in image-1 above, you'll get the max printable area because you changed all the values to 0.

Image-4

5. Click Finish to save the changes to your new and improved pc3 file.

Image-5

Notes: If you want to maximize the printable area on all sheets you use, you'll need to repeat ALL the steps for each of those named sheets. Each time you run through the procedure to maximize the printable area on a sheet, make sure #2 and #5 show the same named sheet AND make sure #1 and #9 display the same plot configuration file. Each individual sheet requires all the steps and the same pc3 file can store ALL your modifications for all your sheets.

I'm hesitant to share the title block as it is from our client and I have no authorization to do so. I didn't notice Layout as being anything more than a default; I've always plotted Extents (I just started at a new company), but I think the Batchplot was set to Layout for some reason - could it have come in with the XREF?. I still don't understand how the IP got shifted when I know I attached the XREF at 0,0.
