topic Betreff: plot scale - lineweights do not scale in AutoCAD Forum

The behavior you described is also what I would expect. But what happens in my drawing is that the Scale lineweight checkbox removes all lineweights.

at 1:1 - expected 1mm -> 1mm; actual 1mm -> 0.13mm i.e no lineweight

at 1:2 - expected 1mm -> .5mm; actual 1mm -> 0.13mm i.e no lineweight

Hello,

I know this topic has probably been discussed in length but I have not found the answer to my specific question.

I set up a layout ANSI D size and my layers have line weights assigned to them. I setup also a half size print on the same layout to B size, but I am unable to get the lineweight to scale with the rest of the drawing.

When i print with the scale lineweight checkbox all the lines become very thin regardless of lineweight.

When I print without the scale lineweight checkbox the lines are as thick as in the full size (as you would expect), which is too thick.

How is that Scale lineweight option supposed to work?? I would have expected my line weights to show half size since the plot scale is set to 1:2, i.e. a 1mm to print .5mm. What am I not getting?

My drawing is started using the acadiso.dwt template, with monochrome.ctb and the plot object lineweight checkbox to on. I also tried using a custom .ctb with lineweight but i still get the same result.

I have attached sample prints to show.

Thanks,

-Alex

Try turning off PSLTSCALE and see if that helps.

No PSLTSCALE to 0 does not change anything.

I forgot to mention that although I use ANSI paper size my drawing is actually in mm. The drawing is set to 1:1 mm I don't know if changes anything..

Hover over the checkbox text and read the quicktip/help.

Normally lineweights are the weight on paper(or pdf/dwf ..),

but if you set on this option, your lineweights are scaling by your plot scale(pagesetup/ or better: your current plot-setup).

Lineweight 0.35, plotscale 1:1, 0.35

 2:1 = 0.7

Lineweight 0.35, plotscale 3:1, 1.05

 aso

It is nice to have this option, but usually you don't scale lineweight.

It seems to be a glitch coming from my specific print setup.

The "Scale lineweights" option does not work using the "DWG to PDF.pc3" printer with imperial paper sizes i.e. ANSI D. I tried creating a custom paper size the same size as an ANSI D but in millimeters and the checkbox functions as it should.

It must have to do with how the pdf printer converts between mm and inches internally. Basically, the pdf printer won't let you use the "Scale lineweights" option for metric drawings printed on ANSI sizes. Use ISO paper instead or create custom paper sizes in mm.

Thanks! Worked for me. I switched from "DWG to PDF" to "Autocad PDF" and it worked! That was an annoying problem.
