offset issues

hi all. please help. i have issue with my offset tool option. it keep asking me to specify distance and also require numeric distance. i used autocad 2013 and it was fine. ever since i switch to 2018 and thi sproblem occurs thats i cant seem to fix. please help

sounds like you are running some lisp command? if you type OFFSET at the command prompt does this solve the problem?

Does "require numeric distance" mean that you cannot specify the distance by picking two points on-screen, but must always type in a number? Or that you cannot accept the default distance [or Through] that it offers, but must always answer with a number?

If you type in .OFFSET with the period/decimal-point prefix, does it work as you expect? If something is loading automatically that UNDEFINEs the command and makes a different definition of it, the . prefix will force it to use the native AutoCAD command, not the new definition.

And I would also like to know how it worked when "it was fine" for you before: did it not ask for a distance? If not, how would it know where to put the Offset copies of things? Might you have had a custom new definition of the command under 2013 that you became accustomed to, that is not loading in your newer version(s)?
