I have a block that I cannot purge. In trying to figure out why I have considered

"It is nested inside another block" - I have purged all other blocks from the DWG leaving only the one I am having trouble with, it still will not purge.

"It is inserted in the drawing" - I have used ctrl+A to select all and delete, in both paperspace and model space, I have ensured all layers are unfrozen, I have purged all layers, etc.

"It is an attached xref drawing" - I have used EXTERNALREFERECENS to bring up the browser, the file I am working with is the only one displayed.

Any other options? I can insert the block, it's just a triangle. I've tried inserting it, selecting similar and deleting, Ive tried editing the block in the block editor, changing it to something else, inserting and deleting it from the drawing, etc. I'm trying to create a template, so I would really rather not propagate this through every drawing I make from here after. Thanks

Hi,

your dimension style uses this block as arrow.

As long as the dimension-style references this block it can't be purged.

I have a similar situation with a bunch of blocks.

The Purge dialog shows Usage in one item: AECC_LABEL_BLOCK_STYLE (1)

I cannot imagine what kind of item this is (not a native English speaker, so maybe that is messing my mind up).

Those Block previously were used in Profile View->Band Styles->Band Sets->Profile Data, but I have deleted all the styles that used those exact blocks. Still - can't purge!

Can You help me figure out what kind of object is still using those blocks and how to purge them? (I am not sure I would be able to share the file, because it is a template file for a firm, and I might not have authorization to share it).

You need to contact whoever made this drawing and Export it to plain Autocad.

or if you know which Autocad this drawing was used to draw up, download the Object Enabler to see them.

You can't purge them that easily with your plain Autocad.

Drawing TrueView will convert those objects so that they can be purged afterwards. Make sure to select "Explode AEC Objects" in the settings.

Don't think both of your solutions will fit in my case. My file is a Civil 3D drawing template that we all have to use constantly. Only those - about 12 blocks that I need to, but can't delete are taking up space. (not much, but annoying)

If I knew, what is this supposed label block style they are used in, I could delete those styles, free the blocks and Purge them.

Try exporting the file as ACAD 2000, then open that file. Set all styles to standard (text, dims, tables, leaders, etc..). then purge. You can also delete layers by using the LAYDEL command. This should clear everything out.
